The End Of The Year

Suffice to say, these 2 months have been very grueling, painful, tormenting, fun, memorable and compelling.

I am glad that we actually had a video to present because some group didn't even have it rendered. *clears throat*. My group mates, Kez and Maj are my good friends and I've began to become closer to Maj then i had since last year at Video Fundamentals.

Iam relieved Natalya did her part.

Iam grateful to Maj because she put in a lot of effort and tried to salvage everything possible when we nearly broke down. Kez has been trying to be patient and she too, has done a considerable amount as we are handicapped.

On a personal level I did not do much work. But it matters not, it has come to a close and we're still going to be good friends. I am moving into the second year and it's been fun and sad to know one year has past. Along the way we have made many friends who i truly appreciate. I would like to thank all my friends. This is sappy but it doesn't matter. I'd like to thank a whole hell lot of people for making freshman year fun.

Dion, Clarissa, Andrea Lek, Boon Bin, Yvonne, Angie, Yuan Ming, Gina and Germaine, Kez, Maj, Jem, Mal, Gary, Raymond, Nafisah, Yi Chuin, Vivien, TY, Jake, Aaron, Candice, Jen, Sarah, Kirin, Rina, Wendy, Rachael and Raj.

I didn't miss out anyone. Confirmed.

Thank you Aaron for making my December holidays enjoyable and memorable.

Thank you Kez and Maj for making cooking at each other's places fun.

Thank you all for helping me with my work one way or another.

Thank you Raj for Photoshop.

Thank you Boon Bin for giving us a lot of tips.

Thank you Andrea for going with me to the special preview of Atonement, in doing so ensured the ticket didn't go to waste.

Thank you Dion and Kez for support during turbulent times, showing me that even though people can be unfeeling and cold, there are a minor few who comfort us with emotional comprehensiveness.

We have submitted our tape, our production package and everything that has to be done.

Day 29

Today, simple.

Came to school to upload the video into a tape.

At first the audio was static.

Fixed it.

Got it done.

Go home and enjoy my day.

Day 28

I think this is day 28. One tends to lose his direction of time, dates and places when one grows too accustomed to the norms of society and work. Cognizance seems like a myth.

Doesn't matter. On saturday we met very early to edit the video so we can call it. Due to some complications we ended up at Maj's house where did for me a new blog skin for my private blog. We also decided on our credit roll and the style of it.

Because on saturday our bad digression caused the work to spill into today. We spent the whole day adding subtitles, reading Harry Potter books, eating, talking, listening to music, using Photoshop and more editing.

We ended at 12 in the morning and Kez's lovely aunt gave me a lift home. We were glad we ended at that time on that day because if not we would be behind time and it may totally cause us a fail. We also wanted to get over and done with.

Amen.

Today we just came back to school to see Wahidah although we were supposed to relax. I think the only reason why we can relax because we do not have animation shenanigans to complete. So we showed her the scenes which we re-shot.

She was satisfied. Good. Even if she wasn't, not enough time to re shoot. So hope it was good because it was really good.

Notes On A Scandal is nice because we watched it after Wahidah left the classroom.

We have left the editing which will obviously have a lot of impromptu add-ins.

The Gala Premier

We had to do a peer review and to be honest, i would like to retract my view on some people. Won't disclose.

Gathered today at the LT 25 of Temasek Design School the freshmen of Moving Images are going to showcase their works which will be then considered for the MOI Awards. The groups arrived late but it will not affect their eligibility.

There were many powerful performances and many moving pictures and all in all, it was a day of glitz, glamor, laughter and joy.

This is my personal opinion. Don't sue me.

After the presentation we were told we needed a rationale and title for the video which kez volunteered. It is coming to a close and tomorrow the tapes and paper work must be submitted. We had a fun time at Kez's place making pizza and watching a movie.

Day 27

At 4 in the morning one tends to lose all his sense of satirical humor. But it matters not.

Today the weather, my fluffy pillows and soft blanket told me to stay in bed but my iron will forcibly dragged me out of the seduction. Today we had to shoot the closing scene. The scene which will transit to the credits. Gary wasn't in school so we got Andreas to do it for us. Such a sweet fellow. Maybe because he was impatient and needed to break from the monotony of video editing. The lines were very impromptu because I never thought about a proper script nor did i churn one out. So we quickly threw each other lines pertaining to propaganda and MOI. It went well and it was really very very commercial like. Tackled a few problems of over exposure and stuff but Andreas did a good job.

At 4 in the morning one tends to lose the ability to resist the calling of springy mattresses and the warm embrace of the midnight cloak.

Day 26

Today I was supposed to dress formally and downed in a black get up but i totally forgot. I was supposed to be a bouncer for the FYP Diploma show. There so many people there rude and polite and blur which was very frustrating.

We were issued red scarfs and I had to be partners with Kevin which was like *rolls eyes*. He was very rude to the people and it worked out when a girl, in front of her parents and brother (or so i believe) told him off. She said "Manners, man!". Damn bitchy but damn effective. I thought i did a good job in making that piece of cloth look fashionable but kevin tried so hard to imitate my style and flopped miserably. My panache and style is one of a kind. All was well.

Ok, today our group shot the new sequence for 2D art fund because wahidah in her sensible honest opinion felt it was a little too tacky and disposable. We agreed so we re shot the scene. Setting up the set for the shoot was fun and easy because carrying heavy easels and boards are good for my arm muscles. So anyway Maj served as the camera man while me and kez took part by showing our faces.

Day 25

Today was D-day. It was raining. Our Natalya thought an abandoned bag in the other classroom was a bomb left behind by Mas Selamat. She's not very sane I suppose. Never mind, we shall leave psychiatric evaluations for now.

Warning: EXTREME BITCHING AHEAD
(If you are a member of the other group and you somehow read this forsaken blog then you might want to scroll to the end or read my private blog which I love to advertise.)

The first group that went for the presentation was Snap. Lionel's diction, tenses and grammar is all over the place even a mop couldnt clean it up. But they had good content and their animations were fairly acclaimed.

Because Snap did quite well, it was a battle between Looney Bins and us. Well at the back of my mind I knew Looney Bins wouldn't really do well, so presenting after them will make our group seem like a rose among the thorns. So they presented. Their video was funny, i admit, but there was alot of holes here and there which made it annoying after awhile.

Then we went.

After us was Crewsade and they had very good CGI but Jeremy's diction is horrible. Cannot hear a thing he says. So much for being pretty. I rather speak well and be ugly rather than be pretty and mumble and stumble. They had exemplary CGI which put us all to shame. Applauds.

Then the last group didn't even have a video to show. That pretty much sums it all up.

OK, done, i finish bitching. If you got offended by that then too bad, I already warned you and i am not ashamed for being opinionated.

After that, I was tasked upon writting the subtitles for the video which was not fun because I had to replay and hear voices over and over and over and over again just to trans-scribe.

Day 24

Today we realized that our video went over the time line again because Natalya's sequence took a flat 2 minutes which left little space to cramp in the other little details.

We decided to look for a song that would fit our introducing scene which Kez vionlently opposed, but who cares, it was nice.

Thats all. Editing only.

I lost my handphone and I managed to scribe the event on my public blog and thus I shall give it some publicity. www.theyranoutofnames.blogspot.com

My parents gave me a new touch screen phone which is impossible to use.

Today we shot our ending sequence. We were going to do it Oscar-thank-you-speech style. Yupp. Stand in front of the camera and thank everyone who has helped in our group production. Including groupmates which are inconvenient truths. I did not say accidental, its just tragical.

We wanted to film in the auditoriums, don't know if i spelt that right, iam using a computer without spell check.

Anyway, the audis were locked so we made did with a stair well. I thought they were going to dress up so I did and in the end they looked like they were clad in market gear. Doesn't matter. Our natalya was late again, but I don't blame her, Never did because there was nothing in the first place. =D

Sudden meeting in the LT, we had a subway feast and I concluded that iam officially bored of subway. Nearly 1 year of working in that place tossing salads and making sandwiches for cranky people and ingesting the food everyday has made me sick.

We let Natalya touch our Oscar. She made it oily. =/ *very scared*

Day 23

When we say meet at 10am, we usually give ourselves 1hour buffer time and end up coming to school at 11 or 1130. OK, so today we had to shoot somemore sequences. I managed to survive a trip to school carrying heavy bottles of acrylic and a heavy bag.

When we reached we set up our set, Kez had to draw the samples that we were going to show in our video. She can draw damn well, she used my pencils to draw so I hope she blessed them with her might hence bestowing upon me the talent to draw too. But thats just besides the point. Our natalya came late but we don't really bother because we were just wasting her time.

We took 3 takes and then decided to go for lunch at IT school. Air-con canteen. All the stores were closed and natalya kept asking stupid redundant questions, made very irritating comments and even played a time keeper which was quite astounding. So we had to eat chinese noodles which was very scrumptous.

So Maj had class and we decided to end the day. Loove. =)

Day 22

OK, this is really bad but here goes.

Our initial plan for today was to shoot the 2D sequence for our video. However, most of us got up late and, I know we suck for that , Joel and I wanted to see how the video was going to be pasted together. We went to the 2D lab where our files were but the computers were all taken. There was a presentation in the 3D lab so that was out of bounds so we went up to the 6th floor where we had our photography module. The lab was hot and stuffy but there were computers available. All too soon, a class was going to start. Actually, that classroom was meant to be for my mmfund class but we changed class again due to something unknown. So now, Joel is in that lab, Kez is around school doing good deeds and I have no idea where the fourth member is.So yeah, I think today was a waste , really. Oops. How horrible. And we can't shoot tonight cause we're all busy and have something on. So yeah.

Thank you Maj. =D

Day 21

Today was a good day. We had fun filming at boat quay probably because i enjoy the scenery there. We decided to film maj's photography sequence there because the picturesque backdrops serves as an apt location for photography. We were hunting for an A2 mounting board which was really rare. We combed the whole of bras basar complex and soon after a gruelling 30 mins we managed to find a forlorn shop in a corner selling the board. Thus, we were late for our meeting with gary.

When we reached the MRT station Gary was already there and he was quite angry with us but never mind. He chose to tag along so too bad. When we reached the location the sky was spastic because there was no clouds in the sky therefore making the frame over exposed. So we maneuvered around the place in the hopes of a cloudy sky but it was till barren. When we found a perfect spot there was this not very pretty model from Mediacock or something getting ready for her shoot.

5 minutes later she left when her Mediacock van came with all the high life equipment and she moved over to a statue of Stamford Raffles where she did a rather dry scene of her walking and all miserable movement. SO while she was away we quickly went to her spot and filmed Maj's scene. It was good and their advanced contraptions did not hinder our confidence. SO today we managed to wrap Maj's scene. =) L0ove.

Day 20

Today we shot our individual scenes. Maj shot her photography scene which had a few problems because the backdrops weren't relevant to the topic.

Gary is a nice camera man.

Wahidah was receptive to the new concept.

We had to continue storyboarding today because we digressed the previous day. I had the honors of acting in another group's production. I had to play a eccentric professor and I found it hard to play the role because I felt quite self conscious. But then it dawned on me that I could base my character on a group mate I know 'quite well'!! Smiles aplenty. It took us 10 takes to wrap shooting because the acting served as a portal for me to vent all the hype locked inside me. So I laughed half way through acting and Clarissa from the other group was guffawing away I was so distracted, but she meant well because I haven't had a good laugh in quite a few centuries. She said I lost weight which was a blatant ardent lie because matter of fact I gained 4 kilos.

Anyway we went to Bedok Resevoir to shoot natalya's sequence which was quite long because she has no talent to draw! So kez was a little exasperated but had to teach her step by step. Even I can make sushi faster than she can draw but that's besides the point. So after she managed to wrap it up the sun was bidding the shallow earth goodbye. Kez isn't very good at throwing rocks into a resevoir. And irritating chinese kids with american accents are ravaging our tranquil gardens. On monday we will shoot the introduction scene for our video.

Day 18

We have decided to remake our whole video because after much consideration we have reached a painful conclusion that our video doesn't make the cut. So Maj has been thinking alot about it and Kez has been PMS-ing and acting really pissed. We decided that sitting down in front of the camera and the camera taking on the role as an interviewer was a little hard because it did not give us the attention we needed. We came to realize it was quite dry too and the hopes of reviving the video was gone. So we had a new concept where we would isolate modules we think is more vital to animation and slot them at the front of the video while those vital to video option would be at the back. We have watched Girl, Interupted and decided that we're going to follow their transition style. Then another 2 modules which cater to both MOI options would be presented at the back of the video.
